Gordon’s Makeovers has recently lent their support to a team of very brave individuals who are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in their Spectrum Kilimanjaro Challenge 2015: a bid to raise awareness and money for a great, worthwhile charity that is The Steve Prescott Foundation.
The Steve Prescott Foundation has been set up in memory of Steve Prescott MBE, an inspirational figure who, in September 2006, was given just months to live after being diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare form of cancer. But he defied all the odds and completed a series of gruelling challenges over the next seven years. Climbing Kilimanjaro in just five days was one of Steve’s remaining ambitions.
By taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in just five days – four fewer than the usual nine needed to complete this gruelling task – the team hope to pay tribute to Steve and keep his magnificent legacy alive.
If that’s not tough enough, the Steve Prescott Foundation team will be having a game of rugby league at the top, which is also to set a brand-new Guinness World Record!
All funds raised will be donated to support the Steve Prescott Foundation, which supports The Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester and rugby league’s Try Assist – a fund designed to help players whose lives are affected by serious injuries.

As cancer is a disease that has affected and touched on the lives of many, including some family members of the owners of Gordon’s Makeovers, it is a cause that lies especially close to our hearts.
